Winona State University (orig. Winona State Teachers' College)

Somsen Hall
175 West Mark Street
Winona, MN 55987

(Extant but completely compromised due to remodel and damage - see below.)
Builder: Aeolian Organ Co., Op. 1544, 1925. Duo-Art player included. Cost: $28,500.
Manuals: 3
Ranks: 41
Action: Electro-pneumatic

Notes: Originally installed in a single chamber to the right of (and speaking into) the stage. Only Great grille and a few Pedal pipes spoke into auditorium.

Auditorium was remodeled and a permanent inner "shell" built on stage completely blocking any tonal egress of the organ chambers.

This organ was severely damaged by workmen installing a fire suppression sprinkler system through the chambers some years ago. Pipes were crushed and holes cut into windchests. There have been fundraising efforts. So far, they have not come close to the cost of restoration.

Information from Brian Williams. and Organ Historical Society as of 2010.
